Golf Club of Houston
The Club was founded in 2003. The Club has two 18 hole courses that have both hosted the Houston Open. The members only course was designed by John Hardy and Peter Jacobsen. The Tournament Course open to both members and the public was designed by Rees Jones and David Toms. Rees is know as the "Open Doctor" as he has renovated many US Open tournament sites. David Toms is a very accomplished Tour veteran, having won 13 tour events including the 2001 PGA Championship.
The Houston Open has been staged at the club from 2003 to 2019. The Member Course hosted the event from 2003 to 2006 and the Tournament Course from 2007 to 2019. Champions include Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson. The Tournament Course was designed to host the event and allows for great spectator views.
The Club is a pure golf club in every sense. Along with two championship courses, the Club has one of the finest practice facilities in the country. The two ended range also includes 6 indoor bays complete with V-1 video and Trackman technology. The University of Houston uses this state of the art facility for both their Mens and Ladies golf teams. There are 36 real grass hitting stations. The Club's Golf Academy was named after long time University of Houston coach Dave Williams who won 16 National Championships. The Club's short game area includes six bunkers allowing for any kind of shot you want to practice. The Club also has a three hole short course which is complimentary for all members.
The 33,000 square foot clubhouse has both locker rooms for just members and their guests and also a non member public locker room. The Pro Shop is one of the largest and most well-stocked in all of Houston. The Club offers multiple dining options including inside and outside on our recently-renovated patio.
